Landscapes In and Around Ballarat

These graphite, charcoal and ink works depict landscapes of the natural environment within and surrounding Ballarat. They began life as plein air sketches. Some were then developed further in my studio.

Drawing is fundamental to my work. Whether a quick sketch or detailed study, working out in the open is ideal because it enables me to capture line, shape, form, light, mood and character at any moment or place in time.

As a landscape and flora artist inspired by our diverse natural environments, working in the open air provides me with a deep connection to place and land. I hope to provide the viewer with a sense of connection with the natural world.

As well as landscapes, I draw and paint plants and animals, as well as other natural forms. Recently I focused on drawing a variety of beautiful bird nests. I also draw people and still lifes. I work in graphite, charcoal and pastel, and paint in a variety of mediums: watercolour, ink, acrylic and oil.

All the artworks in this exhibition are for sale. Archival prints of the artworks, and pricing, are also available on request. For enquiries, please email me: kristenmurray.art@gmail.com. You can also see more of my work by following me on instagram.com/kristenmurray.art
